So a few people are expressing displeasure with the trade council. It's been accused of being biased at times despite the fact that I've done my best to see that isn't the case. I can see how someone might be inclined to vote one way or another based on how it would help the strength of their division/conference, but that really only goes so far. It's also why you need 3/5 trade council votes to put a trade through. I'm also careful about the people I ask to take part in the voting. They have to be able to be impartial and have been here for a while. I have to be able to trust them to make unbiased decisions.
That being said, here is what is going to happen: I'm going to have 8 trade council members (9 including myself, to break ties). There will be a member in each division. Every council member will vote on every trade except if they are involved in the trade. Trade council members will also be required to check the forum DAILY and will be made aware of their responsibilities upon accepting the position. All trades will need 5 votes to be accepted or declined.
I will be asking the people I feel are trustworthy to join the council over the next few days. You may post a trade during this time but please do not expect it to get voted on until Week 17 has ended and the playoffs have begun. This will give me time to make sure I have the right people for the job.
Do not send messages to trade council members and badger them to vote on your trades. From now on I will automatically overrule and reject any trade where a league member is constantly messaging or texting a a trade council member to vote on something. If you want to send them one message to make them aware of the trade, that's fine. No more. Send your messages to me only.
No, not everyone in the league gets a say in trades. That's because not everyone in the league deserves an equal say. I'm not trying to be mean by saying that. I'm not going to give the new guy that might quit in a few days the same power as someone that's been with the league since Day 1, though. I have to pick and choose how I want to do this because it's in the best interest of the league. For those of you that disagree; There are other places for you to play. I'm willing to bet my league outlives whatever else you find though.
